This beginning weaving class introduces the basic elements of weaving and tapestry technique.
Students will learn the fundamentals for creating woven art and functional items such as bags
and mats. It can be a fun way to incorporate collected shells, driftwood, special buttons or
beads into woven art! Weaving techniques taught will include plain weave, color blending,
warp & weft stripes and rya knots and fringe. Setting up – warping – and finishing methods will
be included. Supplies fee includes a frame loom, simple weaving tools, warp thread and a wide
selection of wool yarn for use during class.
If Peggy isn’t in a classroom, art studio or her garden, she might be found at a garage sale or wandering
around a hardware store imagining artistic uses for the objects she sees. Lines, shapes, textures, and
glorious color can be found everywhere. Peggy loves to translate the world around her into weaving
and tapestry, a very satisfying way to make art.
